In his evening speech, the head of state said that the partners pledged to provide Ukraine with more artillery pieces and to jointly produce weapons.
President Zelensky shared the latest results of the talks and pointed out that an agreement had been reached on Ukraine’s new defense program.
“Today, I held a meeting on the direction of Europe, including our relations with the EU, our tasks for this year, integration in general and relations with the EU neighbours in particular.
“Our priority is clear: all existing agreements must be implemented, every word must be put into practice. This is exactly the approach taken by Ukraine in the European direction. It is thanks to this that we have achieved historic results,” the president said.
He pointed out that this year should be the real period for accession negotiations:
“We could have started negotiations as early as the spring, taking the first steps towards them. This year should also be a period of maximum pragmatism in our relations with our neighbors. Everyone sees that Russia is not going to stop. The people of Moscow want an arms race and a new round of instability. All of us in Europe need to realize this clearly. If the freedom of one country collapses, the freedom of all others will not be able to withstand it. That is the reality.”
Ukrainians must defend themselves and achieve common national goals.
