St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): The Nevis Electricity Company Limited (NEVLEC) has decided to lend a helping hand to the people of Carriacou who lost most of their infrastructure including electricity following the passage of Hurricane Beryl.

Four highly skilled Nevis Power linemen, including Kishawn Hobson, Paul Bradshaw, Clayon Clarke and Rhyan Liburd, travelled to Carriacou to assist in restoring power.

Soon after the disaster on July 1, 2024, NEVLEC lineworkers, along with other colleagues from across the Caribbean, travelled to Carriacou to offer assistance; however, additional support was needed. The goal is to fully restore Carriacou’s electricity network as quickly as possible, making it stronger and better, so that residents can resume their normal lives.

The Carriacou grid has approximately 4,000 customers and a peak load of 1,950 kW.

The Nevis Island Government also provided support to NEVLEC for this project.
