MADRID (Portaltic/EP) – Netflix has announced a redesign of the main interface of its Smart TV application, which will now provide more information about its content, such as synopsis or duration, without having to visit it.
As Netflix confirmed to The Verge , the streaming service’s new look replaces static tiles containing shows, series, and movies to improve the user experience.
This means that, until now, users had to click on the desired content to find out information such as its duration, film genre, plot synopsis, release year or number of episodes.
With the redesign of the smart TV interface, you don’t have to visit every single movie or series to get this information, but just hover the controller’s pointer over the image, which provides greater dynamism during navigation.
Netflix confirmed in a statement reported by the above media that with this change, they hope to make it easier for users to determine whether a particular title is right for them.
With this update, the menu that appeared on the left side of the Netflix homepage has been eliminated and replaced with a bar located at the top that includes the options ‘Search’, ‘Home’, ‘Programs’, ‘Movies’ and ‘My Netflix’.
Additionally, instead of having to scroll to the bar when navigating, you can simply press the “Back” button on your smart TV remote to access the menu for faster access to these features.
Netflix also announced that the new menu reduces some of the options previously available in the menu on the left side of the interface, including the “Categories,” “New and Popular,” or “My List” tabs.
Instead, the recommendations it offers are grouped into “My Netflix,” an update that rolled out last year to the streaming service’s mobile app that also includes quick access to content you’ve watched or have yet to watch.
Netflix will test the new interface with a small group of subscribers using smart TVs and other streaming devices. If the company receives positive feedback on the redesign, it hopes to share it with the majority of members “in the coming months.”
