U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken expressed concern on Monday about how many civilians have been killed in Israel’s military operations in Gaza in recent days. The Israeli army’s attacks, which mainly target refugee camps and schools, have killed more than 200 civilians since the weekend. Of them, 48 were killed in three explosions that occurred in less than an hour on Tuesday.

One of the army’s targets was a school run by the United Nations Palestine Aid Agency, but the agency announced yesterday that seven out of ten schools it runs have been bombed since the start of the war, killing 539 civilians who had taken refuge in the schools.

The Israeli government does not seem to accept this criticism. In fact, Prime Minister Netanyahu announced yesterday that he would intensify military operations to eliminate Hamas.
