According to data released by the National Statistical Office on Friday, the average net salary fell to 5,118 lei in May this year, 99 lei (-1.9%) less than in April 2024. The average gross salary was 8,355 lei, 177 lei (-2.1%) less than in April 2024.

INS announced that the highest average net wage was in information technology service activities (including computer service activities) – 11,253 lei, and the lowest was in clothing manufacturing – 2,784 lei. The most significant decrease in average net wage income was in insurance, reinsurance and pension fund activities (except for the public social insurance system), which fell by 21.8%, and in the extraction of crude oil and natural gas, which accounted for 19.4%.

On the other hand, the growth of average net wages compared to April 2024 depends on the granting of occasional incentives (quarterly or annual incentives, special performances or Easter holidays), rights in kind and financial assistance, net amounts of profit and other funds (including securities), but also from production results or higher income (depending on the contract/project).
