About two weeks ago, the Government of National Unity and Transformation (GNUT) launched and held the National Economic Summit, achieving one of its most important 100-day plans.
Another important initiative to be implemented is the round table where the government will meet with donors and development partners to discuss issues such as the alignment of development partners’ support with our national priorities.
Launching the 100-day plan, Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele stressed that “this event will serve as a key platform to align the support of our development partners with our national priorities”.
The Prime Minister stressed that the coming together of development partners will result in a stronger partnership and the assistance we receive will be more streamlined and effective in achieving our strategic objectives.
Prime Minister Manele further stressed the importance of the Round Table, saying: “This Round Table will promote open dialogue, enhance mutual understanding, consolidate our cooperation efforts and ensure that our development goals are fully and coordinatedly supported.”
The roundtable will be organized by government departments and coordinated by the Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (OPMC).
In addition, the Ministry of Mines, Energy and Rural Electrification will also take the lead in organizing the energy summit.
It is noteworthy that the Government of National Unity and Transformation (GNUT) has only been in power for two and a half months. Its aggressiveness in implementing the 100-day plan fully demonstrates that the government is sincerely committed to moving the country forward.
The priority of government policy is to maximize the role of the productive sector and to develop its full potential with the support of the resource sector. The expected result is that the productive sector will reach a stage where it can fully meet the needs of the social sector.
