MOGADISHU (HOL) β Director General of National Security Intelligence Agency (NISA), Abdullahi Mohamed Ali Sanbaloolshe, along with other security officials, visited the site of a car bomb explosion in the suburbs of Mogadishu on Tuesday morning.
The explosion occurred near a security checkpoint in the Arba’ow neighborhood of El Shabiha, killing five government soldiers and injuring several others. NISA forces successfully detonated a second car packed with explosives, preventing further casualties.
Director Sambarul She praised the security forces for their quick response in thwarting the attack and urged them to be vigilant, especially working with residents in the suburbs of the capital.
The militant group al-Shabaab, which claimed responsibility for the blast, said it targeted security forces stationed at a checkpoint.
The attack was the third bombing in Mogadishu in the past 30 days, marking an alarming increase in violence in the capital. Earlier this month, al-Shabaab attacked a popular beach restaurant in Mogadishu, killing more than 37 civilians and injuring 212.
It was the deadliest attack in Somalia since two car bombs exploded near a busy market intersection in October 2022, killing at least 100 people and injuring more than 300.
