The Salvadoran Navy intercepted three vessels involved in drug trafficking 450 nautical miles southwest of El Codón, Bocana, Estero de Hialtepec. During this operation, three Mexicans and two Ecuadorians were arrested.

The first ship located with the help of a radio beacon had geographical coordinates indicating the meeting point for receiving the shipment. Two days later, at the designated coordinates, the second ship was found with 1,550 kilograms of cocaine, worth $38.7 million, transported by two Ecuadorians. Half an hour later, a third ship arrived with three Mexicans on board to take the drugs. Authorities say these Mexican ships had the function of providing logistical support and receiving the substances.

As detailed by President Nayib Bukele, he assured that in less than 80 days, as part of the Territorial Control Plan, the Trident forces have successfully carried out six operations against drug trafficking, seizing a total of 8.1 tons of drugs, worth more than US$203.8 million. This latest operation demonstrates the commitment of the Salvadoran government to combat drug trafficking in the region.
