The National Security Council of Niger has just celebrated its first year in office on July 26, 2024. Despite the insecurity and pressure from the government in the political situation in Niger, the results of its management seem satisfactory after review by analysts and other observers of Nigerien politics. The international community is working hard to bend the country and its leaders to its will, despite the sabotage actions of its internal and external enemies aimed at slowing down and hindering Niger’s new advance. Niger is doing well and all the institutions established so far are functioning well. We are also informed that the National Advisory Council, which the people of Niger have been waiting for for a long time, is about to be established. At the regional level in the country, this work has been largely completed, but in the capital, Niamey, things have been delayed, so all measures have been taken so that the institutions responsible for studying the main directions of the country can soon see the light of day.
The parliamentary meeting of the AES member states is scheduled to take place in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, in November 2024, so it is undeniable that Niger will be able to send representatives to this important meeting within the stipulated time. But the question that always lingers is who will be appointed to lead this prestigious body? Comments are rife and many names are cited, including a former retired general who held several important positions in the command of the Nigerian army. We are also talking about a well-known and popular figure who was a very great actor in civil society, but who ended up returning to politics, making such a choice by taking on any responsibility, considering that he could better serve his motherland and his people. He has been a candidate for the presidential elections several times and embodies all the values of integrity, honesty and competence. He has proven to have a high sense of responsibility and is a true male leader who has accumulated a wealth of experience over the years in his multiple careers in civil society and Nigerian politics. In all cases, it is necessary and the wish of all Nigeriens that the Consultative Council to be established is composed of people who are capable of a difficult task. It requires certain skills. To this end, the future president of the body must be a committed patriot, concerned about the well-being of Nigeriens, understanding the people, their aspirations and needs, but most importantly, possessing a perfect understanding of Niger’s socio-political realities.
