Namal Rajapaksa, the national organiser of the Sri Lanka Podu Janaperumuna, said the party had not been formally informed in writing by President Ranil Wickramasinghe, entrepreneur Dhammika Perera or anyone else that they would contest the presidential election.
He also said that he had not informed the party about such a thing.
He said this when asked by the media who will contest in Sri Lanka’s presidential election.
He said the candidate will be nominated in due course and the candidate for Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna will be someone who will not sell local resources to pay off the country’s debt.
Namal Rajapaksa further said that several people were in discussions with political parties who wanted to get candidatures.
