Namal leaves Dinavira and joins Pavitra Ranil

Minister Pavitra Vanniarachchi has decided to support Mr. Ranil Wickramasinghe in the upcoming presidential election.

She said the decision was taken at the request of her supporters.

That being said, here is the announcement she made.

2024 Presidential Election

I am making this announcement to announce my political stance in the 2024 Presidential election.

I have made this political decision after long political discussions with party members, scholars, social activists and other parties who work with me politically.

We all know that in 2022, our motherland’s economy, politics, and society are seriously unstable.

In order to bring the country out of the unstable situation that existed at that time, many political groups led by Sri Lanka Bodujana Peramuna made efforts to appoint Mr. Ranil Wickremesinghe as the President of the country.

Based on the trust that Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna and other political forces have placed in His Excellency Ranil Wickremesinghe, our motherland has now achieved remarkable stability.

Therefore, the majority of the party members of Podujana Peramuna in Ratnapura District, Sri Lanka have informed me to support Mr. Ranil Wickremesinghe in the upcoming presidential election.

Listening to the people of Ratnapura and party members with whom I took important political decisions was the policy I always followed throughout my political career.

Furthermore, I believe that this moment requires a government leader who will make direct and realistic decisions to further build our homeland, a stable homeland that we have built with great sacrifices.

Therefore, I have decided to stay in Sri Lanka Pudugana Peramuna and support Mr. Ranil Wickremesinghe who is contesting as an independent candidate in the upcoming presidential election.
