NAC Breda lost their first match of the new season to Groningen. After just seven minutes, Enes Mahmutovic was sent off for staying in the penalty area. This led to a penalty and a 1-0 win. At Euroburg, Groningen ended the game 4-1. This means that the team of head coach Dick Lukian is now temporarily in the lead.

The home team took the lead quickly. NAC defender Enes Mahmutovic blocked his opponent in the penalty area. The penalty was saved by Juninho Bacuna. After that, the home team was no longer afraid of NAC, who also promoted and mainly played defense.

Portuguese Rui Mendes scored nearly half an hour into the game, 2-0, the first goal since 2022. Five minutes later, Marco Lent scored with a header, 3-0.

After the break, NAC fought back with a penalty kick. Dominik Janosek made it 3-1, but that was the end of Breda’s formation. Jorg Schreuders put the final score on the board. He shot behind goalkeeper Daniel Bjelica and the score was 4-1.

NAC advances again after five seasons in the Kitchen Championship category.
