PN chairman Muhyiddin Yassin said he was confident that he did not violate any Malaysian laws during his controversial speech during the Ngili by-election.
(FMT) – Defending a speech he made during the Ngiri by-election campaign that is currently under police investigation, Perikatan Nasional chairman Muhyiddin Yassin said his speech was not intended to insult the monarchy.
The former prime minister insisted in a statement that his speech was based on facts and he had no intention of inciting the public.
“I believe my remarks did not violate any laws in Malaysia.
I will fully cooperate with the police and clarify my remarks.
Muhyiddin claimed in the lecture that despite having the majority votes to form the government, he was not invited by the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, to be sworn in as prime minister after the 15th general election for some reason.
Muhyiddin’s comments have resulted in 29 police reports being filed against him, accusing him of questioning the king’s authority and calling for strict action.
Earlier today, the Pahang Crown Prince also called on the police to take decisive action against Muhyiddin.
Tengku Mahkota, who is also the Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah in Pahang, said Muhyiddin deliberately disparaged Sultan Abdullah during his tenure as the 16th head of state.
It was reported last night that the investigation into the Bersatu president will be conducted by the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department’s Sub-Criminal Investigation Division for his alleged involvement in the sensitive “3R” issues, namely race, religion and royalty.
Muhyiddin is expected to be questioned by police tomorrow.
