People expect better services from Nyabikenke Hospital after receiving Imbakiragutara
This is a modern new hospital built by the people with the permission of President Kagame. It has begun to provide a number of services including obstetric surgery for women, but there are still problems such as insufficient staff.
A parent who came to Nyabikenke Hospital from Kibangu area said the ambulance would help them to see a doctor before they left because they had a vehicle that was transporting the patient, only to find out that the ambulance did not arrive because they called and found out that it had gone somewhere else.

He said: “I am proud of the patient transportation system that our minister Paul Kagame has provided to our hospitals because now we have problems because it is the only system that is called upon to transport patients to hospitals. Our health centres are not available because they have gone to other places”.
Another mother who is also receiving treatment at Nyabikenke Hospital said it is not easy for patients to get to the hospital as they do not need motorcycles and are not suitable for being carried in wheelchairs.
They said that it was not easy for a mother who was about to give birth to come to this hospital.
“In fact, this area in Isa where we live is so big that one ambulance cannot reach all of it. One time, the health advisor called and found out that he was not found. He went to take a patient like in Nyabinoni district and eventually took him to the traditional Gogobi and made him walk, the journey was long,” he said.
“I am very happy, very happy. Thanks to our mother, who saw that it was far to go to Kabugayi for treatment, she gave us a cow to take us to the doctor. She will continue to give us good things. “We in the mountains of Ndiza also support her.”

Nyabikenke Hospital Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Like Bahizi Fulgence, he said the emergency assistance they received at the hospital was in response to patients coming from the rear areas of Rongi Mountain.
He said they planned to keep it at Gasavi Hospital in Kibangu District so that instead of fetching patients from the hospital, they would fetch them from those areas.
He said: “Now we have a problem with patients coming from behind the mountains so this is the rescue we are providing, we will take it to Gassavi hospital, not take the patient from here but it will bring him here so that he will be close to that area behind the mountains”.
The interventions they received are expected to improve hospital services
The director of Nyabikenke Hospital went on to say that in addition to the aid received in May 2024, they are waiting for two more aids to be received in the coming days, all of which will arrive in order to continue providing medical services. Nyabikenke Hospital serves residents of Muhanga District, Kamonyi District and Gakenke District.
