Solomon Islands High Commissioner to India, His Excellency Anthony Makabo, met with senior officials of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs on Tuesday.
In a meeting with Ms. Paramita Tripathi, Joint Secretary of the Indian Ocean Territories Division, His Excellency Makabo expressed his sincere gratitude to the Solomon Islands for the substantial support and financial assistance provided by the Government of India to the Solomon Islands over the past few years.
Makabo said the High Commission was now fully operational and his mission was to complete the ongoing bilateral programmes to further advance the friendly relations between the two countries.
He also thanked the Oceania Territories Division for its untiring support during the establishment and launch phase of the High Commission’s office in New Delhi.
He noted that the Indian government is finalizing arrangements for signing a number of memorandums of understanding in the health and medical sectors.

This will open a path for enhanced collaboration and access to the Indian Pharmacopoeia and also provide prospects for exploring opportunities for technical collaboration in areas of mutual benefit in the health and medical sectors.
Meanwhile, His Excellency Makabo welcomed the update that India has taken into account the views, commitments and statements made by Solomon Islands at the recent Forum of Indo-Pacific Islands Countries (FIPIC) in Port Moresby.
The Solomon Islands High Commission in New Delhi will continue to work closely with the relevant authorities of the Government of India to monitor the full implementation of these ongoing bilateral commitments and will seek further avenues to strengthen the existing friendly relations between India, Solomon Islands and their peoples.
The High Commissioner is scheduled to present his credentials to the President of the Republic of India in the near future.
