MPs say six judges are obstructing the work of the Constitutional Court — UNIAN

Currently, six judges of the Constitutional Court are obstructing its work and have filed a request to ensure that the previously dismissed president of the court, Oleksandr Tupytsky, attends the hearing.

This is according to Olha Sovhiria, the special envoy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to the CCU, who telegraph.

“Unfortunately, the cases filed under the relevant constitutional proposals were never heard because the work of the court was obstructed by six judges. The main and only motive for the obstruction was the demand to ensure the participation of Tupitsky in the court hearings, while Tupitsky had been removed from his position as a CCU judge by presidential decree,” she explained.

Ukraine constitutional crisis

• The investigation established that in October 2018, in a small restaurant in Kyiv, Tupitsky, then deputy chairman of the CCU, bribed a witness in a criminal proceeding.
• The witness should have retracted his testimony or provided doctored testimony in support of the former Chairman of the Supreme Economic Court of Ukraine, who is a suspect in the case.
• The investigation also stated that in 2018 and 2019, Tupitsky provided false testimony to the former President of the Supreme Economic Court three times in the case of illegal seizure of property of the Zuivsky Energy Machinery Plant in Zukhles, Donetsk Oblast.
• He was charged with giving false testimony and bribing witnesses.
• If convicted, Tupitsky faces up to five years in prison.
• President Zelensky first dismissed Tupitsky from his position as a CCU judge, and then signed a decree annulling the presidential order appointing Tupitsky as a CCU judge in 2013. The president called Tupitsky “a person who has been undermining the interests of the Ukrainian state for many years.”
