Ahmed Badawi, Chairman of the House of Representatives’ Communications Committee, said that the Communications and Information Technology Committee is considered to be the committee responsible for enacting specialized legislation and laws related to the industry, of which investment in the information technology industry is at the forefront. Indicating its concerns, he pointed out that Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly proposed a strategy during the House of Representatives’ review of the government’s statement to discuss the establishment of three mobile phone manufacturing plants within three years.
Badawi met with those responsible for implementing the strategy in El Alamein
Badawi added in his speech on Channel One that he had recently met with those responsible for implementing the strategy in Alamein, led by Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dr. Ashraf. Amir TalatPointed out that Egypt’s infrastructure allows the implementation of this strategy, in addition to the technical zones, such as those located in Assiut and Beni Suef.
Administration ready to push for more investment
The Chairman of the House of Representatives’ Communications Committee went on to say that the executive branch is ready to promote the attraction of more investments on Egyptian soil, which is already happening, explaining that he has participated in several meetings with officials of some foreign companies in Egypt who have asked to join this sector and invest in it.
He explained that the introduction of the Personal Data Protection Law, the Information Technology Law, and the Law on the Use of Financial Technology in Non-Banking Financial Activities is to encourage everyone to invest In the information technology sector, he noted that the first Egyptian-made mobile phone factory will be announced by the end of this year.
