Dili, July 17, 2024 (TATOLI) – The President of the Republic, José Ramos-Horta, has expressed satisfaction with the presence of the East Timor Movement Forward (MOTIVA) as it participates in the formation of the future leadership of East Timor.
The head of state expressed this position during a speech and dialogue at the Noble Palace of Lahane with more than 120 members of MOTIVA, initiated by Fidelis Leite Magalhães, including Merício Juvenal dos Reis “Akara” and others.
“During the dialogue, the President of the Republic also expressed the concern for future leaders with political and international experience so that the presence of various movements can consolidate strength and contribute to future leadership and national development,” a statement said.
Ramos-Horta drew on the experience of developed countries in the world, explaining that they were built on strong centralized leadership, continuity of government plans and the training of strong young talent for the country’s future.
In front of the MOTIVA Youth, the Head of State asked the political parties not to stop their activities after the elections, stressing that continuity in party activities is necessary. He asked the political parties to use their resources based on their individual experience in the government structure so that they can implement a good vision and thus achieve the overall vision of the country.
On this occasion, the Head of State also called on all citizens, especially young people, to consider reconciliation in order not to stigmatize the Timorese who left East Timor for Indonesia in 1999.
Looking ahead, the President of the Republic is always willing to communicate with all groups or associations, including MOTIVA, that are willing to promote youth development through dialogue.
