More than 214,000 dental interventions performed in Bolivia

La Paz, November 29 (PL) The head of the National Oral Health Program, Iván Valda, reported today that from April to date, the Program has carried out more than 214,000 free dental interventions in Bolivia.

Thanks to this program promoted by the Ministry of Health and Sports, a total of 214,259 interventions were carried out in the departments of Santa Cruz, Cochabamba and La Paz.

These actions are carried out within the framework of the “Oral Health Prevention” project launched in April this year, which provides free care to the population through 16 mobile clinics operating in different regions of the country.

According to a release from the ministry, a total of 79,963 health promotion actions have been carried out so far through the distribution of brushes, toothpaste and hygiene products.

Warda said it is important to create awareness among the people, parents, teachers, authorities, members of social organizations and institutions so that they develop healthy lifestyle and comprehensive hygiene habits.

Likewise, he explained that in mobile clinics, they provided about 133,000 primary oral health care services and provided preventive care, restorative and minor surgical services.

On the other hand, as part of the second phase of intervention, the programme plans to deliver a total of 1,226 dentures by the end of December.

Varda said the goal is to rehabilitate and restore oral and dental function for the elderly in several municipalities surrounding La Paz.

For his part, the Minister of Health and Sports, Juan Carlos Calvemontes, highlighted the excellent work of dentists who help those most in need and approved the commitment to work for the health of Bolivians.
