More than 2,000 animals vaccinated against foot-and-mouth disease in Monagas

In Cedeño, the capital of Caicala de Maturín, Monagas state, 2,483 cattle have been vaccinated against foot-and-mouth disease, meaning that a total of 93 producers from Caicala, San Felix, Areo and Vento Fresco have received the state certificate.

The event took place in the town of Los Pozos, in the parish of Areo, with the participation of officials from the National Institute of Integrated Agricultural Health (Insai), as well as officials from the Municipal Credit Institute of Cedeño and the Agricultural Department of Endogenous Development, represented by the mayor of that jurisdiction, Daniel Monteverde.

The ranchers were congratulated for their tremendous commitment and responsibility in keeping their cattle in optimal sanitary conditions, thereby making the municipality a foot and mouth disease free area.

Municipalities are calling on producers who have not yet vaccinated their herds to join the campaign.

It is worth noting that Monagas has more than 10,000 doses of FMD vaccine to serve farmers and small producers within the entity, and sanitary controls to prevent and eliminate FMD are in place. They comply with established regulations to obtain international certification as a FMD-free zone for vaccination in the medium term, a fundamental requirement for the marketing of livestock and meat products and the revitalization of local and regional economies.
