Summer thunderstorms are expected to arrive this weekend.
Meteorologists at the Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI) said precipitation is expected to increase across the country on Wednesday and Thursday. Juha Jantunen ” told the Finnish news agency STT.
“We’re talking about intermittent rainfall at best, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be occasional sun breaks throughout the day.”
However, there is likely to be no rainfall in the northernmost part of Lapland.
Temperatures will be cooler than last week. According to Jantunen, they will hover between 15 and 19 degrees Celsius.
Only the northernmost region of Lapland and Finland’s southern coast are expected to reach 20 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.
Jantunen said the weather will remain unsettled for the rest of the week, with an increase in summer thunderstorms.
“The closer we get to the weekend, the greater the chances of sunny spells. From Friday onwards, it will be cloudy in Lapland, with showers concentrated in the southern and central parts of the country.”
The weather will warm up over the weekend, with temperatures likely to reach 20 to 24 degrees Celsius across much of the country, and rainfall will ease next week.
