Missionary Mboro’s church burned down after machete attack

The church of missionary Mboro was burned down after his supporters attacked it with machetes, sparking a wave of anger and violence in South Africa.

Students angry about selective justice

After the attack, police arrested five people, but Motsoeneng was not initially among them. This apparent preferential treatment angered students, who decided to express their indignation by marching on Motsoeneng Church, which was housed under a large tent and was set on fire by the angry crowd and then looted.

Minister of Education Siviwe Gwarube said: We are outraged by the attacks on our schools, staff and students.He strongly condemned the use of weapons to enter schools and intimidate children, stressing that this should never happen. Police have since confiscated the weapons used in the attack, including an imitation gun and machete.
