Taupo-based low carbon dairy processor Miraka has announced a strong milk price of $8.42 per kilogram for the 2024/25 season.
Miraka chief executive Karl Gradon said it was pleasing to be able to make a strong forecast for milk prices in 2024/25 after a tough season on the farm.
Miraka will pay its suppliers a base price, which is set at $8.25 per kg MS.
Farmers can also receive additional awards under Te Ara Miraka, the company’s agricultural excellence program, which recognises high standards of sustainability, talent development, animal welfare and milk quality.
Gladden said an additional $0.20/kg MS was added to the milk price.
He said since Miraka was founded in 2010, the company has paid more than $21 million in premiums to farmer suppliers.
Miraka will host the company’s annual supplier dinner in Taupo on June 13, hosting 300 people from its farming and stakeholder communities.
Former East Coast sheepherder and world-class boxer Shane Cameron will be the guest speaker.
Fonterra announced late last month that its farmgate milk price forecast for the 2024/25 season was $7.25 to $8.75 per kilogram of milk solids, with a midpoint of $8.00 per kilogram.
