Tazabek – The project for the construction of the 10-29 km section of the Balykchi-Kochkol-Kara-Kechche railway passed the state review and was included in the state register. The Board of Directors of the Ministry of Transport announced this on August 5 after publishing the results of the first half of the year.
According to the department, so far, 18.5 km of track superstructure has been laid. Substructure work is ongoing between 28 and 33 km, where culverts are being constructed. At 37 km, preparatory work for drilling and blasting operations, including necessary measurements, is underway.

The 186-kilometer-long Barykchi-Kochkol-Kara-Keche railway will begin construction in 2022. It is expected to be fully completed and put into operation in 2030. The project is funded entirely by the state-owned enterprise “Kyrgyzstan Iron and Steel Company”.
