Today, the Ministry of Social Development and Family, in partnership with the Doha Graduate Institute, launched the first training course of the “Azem” financial awareness programme, aimed at reaching new employees, those about to get married and those in debt, providing them with tools to manage their finances.
The two-day course, themed “Financial Awareness”, aims to train male and female participants on how to conserve resources, adopt a savings policy, spend wisely to achieve financial sustainability, and spread a culture of financial awareness in society. It includes several topics in a new way that appeals to young people: spending and financial expenditure, the concept and nature of correct spending, a person’s financial life, tips for creating a personal budget, strategies for prioritizing monthly purchases, and ways to implement the equation of success: “saving vs. spending”.
The course also covers twelve saving techniques and eight spending techniques, with practical training through proven and successful techniques, in addition to a visit to the world of… “Gharmonists Get Rich”.
In this regard, Dr. Mona Babti, Director of the Training and Program Development Department of the Center of Excellence of the Doha Graduate School, who presented the course, stressed the importance of financial awareness as one of the most important factors. The theme raised today in most developed countries is the protection of resources to achieve financial sustainability and ensure the well-being of social life, calling on the target groups of the “Azem” program, including those in debt, those who are about to get married, in addition to university students, but also new employees, to realize that mastering and practicing the best financial policies in life is the only way to achieve balance and stability in public life. Ms. Hessa Muhammad Al-Dhiyab, Social Guidance Advisor at the Ministry of Social Development and Family, pointed out the value of maintaining family capabilities through responsible spending and wise family economic planning, and pointed out that it is the responsibility of each family to strive to master the necessary skills and knowledge, in addition to determining the best practices for achieving financial balance in life, and to work to help future generations live within a rationalized framework.
The Ministry of Social Development and Family launched the financial awareness programme “Azem” in June last year, which aims to raise awareness among Qatari families and youth about the need for optimal and advance planning of spending and savings, rather than relying on debt to make ends meet and to afford luxuries.
The plan falls within the ministry’s strategy to reduce irresponsible consumption and pave the way for future generations to rely on multiple sources of income to keep up with global changes and maintain the capacity of families and society.
Within the framework of these efforts, the Ministry of Social Development and Family seeks to create financial awareness based on Islamic consumer values and through models and means of managing financial life, so as to avoid young people and newly formed families becoming addicted to consumption and unnecessary luxuries, and to build a conscious and sustainable society that guarantees equal prosperity and sustainable opportunities for future generations.
