The Ministry of Information and Communications Technology has once again strongly clarified allegations that it requested the use of non-tax revenue collected in September 2023 by one of its direct agencies.

“We implore media stakeholders to refrain from any kind of defamatory attacks against our officials and encourage constructive dialogue,” the statement read.
The Ministry of Information and Communications Technology clarified in the same statement that it had received approval from the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development earlier this year to use the funds for its activities.

However, the ministry has since said it remains willing to share information with the public and the media in line with its commitment to open government principles.
The statement reads as follows;
The Ministry of Information and Communications Technology and the Ministry of National Guidance have noted with concern malicious reports in the online media regarding a request made in September 2023 to use non-tax revenue (NTR) collected by one of our direct agencies.
It is important to clarify that the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development had earlier this year approved the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology and National Guidance to use these funds to carry out its activities. Therefore, the claim that the Ministry was prohibited from using the said resources is untrue.
The Department of Information and Communications Technology is committed to the principles of transparent, accountable and efficient management of resources. We adhere to these standards to ensure that all expenditures are managed prudently.
We implore media stakeholders to refrain from any kind of defamatory attacks against our officials and encourage constructive dialogue.
