The Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Culture (MESCC) celebrated the signing of a technical agreement with the International Cultural Communication Centre Malaysia (ICCCM) in the areas of training, human resource training and curriculum development on 18 June 2024 at the following location: MESCC Hall, Colmera, Dili.
The signing of the technical agreement was formalized by the Director of Planning and Finance, Hernâni Viterbo da Costa Soares, and the President of ICCCM, Nicy Bai, in the presence of the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Culture, José Honório, and Benjamine Leong, as the representative of ICCCM, and by department managers and technicians.
The overall objective of the agreement is to provide Timor-Leste with training opportunities in specialized technical fields through the Ministry itself, partly financed by ICCCM, in order to train Timorese human resources. In addition, the agreement also provides for cooperation in curriculum development, especially for the polytechnics that the Ministry plans to establish in Laotem, Manatuto and Covalima.
After signing the agreement in the morning, in the afternoon the technical team continued to discuss the professional areas to be established within the scope of this cooperation, especially the professional training areas that meet the needs of Timor-Leste, from professional to technician training to higher education.
The afternoon session began with a presentation of the implementation plan and project details by Benjamine Leong and his team, with active participation from management and technical staff of the Ministry, as well as related institutions such as the Instituto Polytechnic de Betano (IPB), Instituto Maun de Obra (INDMO) and the Fundación de Development de Cidade Humane (FDCH).
