Ministry of Education withdraws from cuts

The Ministry of National Education, Primary Education and Sports has decided to cancel the deductions from employees’ salaries due to the collective work stoppage, saying the decision was made within the framework of “extending a helping hand and maintaining a positive atmosphere in the education system,” a source in the ministry said.

In this context, the Minister of National Education, Primary Education and Sports, Chakib Benmoussa, wrote to the Director of Personnel Expenditure at the Kingdom’s General Finance Ministry, requesting the cancellation of the deductions from employees’ salaries due to the collective stoppage.

The letter signed by Younes Suhaimi, secretary general of the Ministry of National Education, Primary Education and Sports, said the reversal of the cuts was carried out “under the guidance of the Minister of National Education, Primary Education and Sports to consolidate the positive atmosphere created by the outcomes of the sectoral social dialogue reflected in the Agreement of December 10-26, 2023, which culminated in the adoption of the Regulations on Employees of the Ministry of National Education and the positive overall mobilization.”

The decision is also “in order to strengthen the level of trust with the various actors in the education system and with the social partners within the framework of the sector”, the correspondent added. The Ministry of Education considers reaching out as a fundamental option for resolving family education and training issues in the context of the entire social sector dialogue. “

The aforementioned document states that “the interests of the Ministry’s Directorate of Human Resources and Employee Training will continue to be governed by the competent interests of the Kingdom’s General Treasury to provide full provisions for employees in relation to the above-mentioned deductions, as well as periods of absence.”

The Ben Moussa Ministry believes that the launch of this measure “will help complete the purification of the atmosphere, establish a sound and stable social climate, and contribute to the full mobilization of all educational and administrative frameworks and social partners in the reform dynamics”.
