The Ministry of Education and Youth has postponed the start of the 2024 National Summer Academy due to the adverse effects of Hurricane Beryl, including severe damage to utilities and infrastructure.
It was originally scheduled to start on July 8, but the start date has been postponed until further notice. The summer college aims to improve students’ literacy and numeracy skills.
The ministry, in a recent communique, expressed its deepest condolences to all those affected by the cyclone.
The Ministry of Education said the decision to postpone the start of summer courses was to ensure the safety and health of students and staff.
The Department of Education is committed to keeping stakeholders informed and will provide updates on the rescheduling of the Summer Academy as soon as the situation allows.
The bulletin said damage was being assessed and schools were being repaired, and the country was working to recover and rebuild to emerge stronger from this adversity.
