The Ministry of Defence today took delivery of the first 18 of 68 new telehandlers. These vehicles with telescopic arms can be used by all defence units to move heavy loads. They are particularly useful for moving cargo in and out of warehouses, workshops and during deployments and exercises.
This involved 14 small telehandlers and four large telehandlers. The smaller ones can lift 2,000 kg, the larger ones have a load capacity of up to 3,500 kg. The telehandlers can also lift upwards. The new equipment replaced the old telehandlers. They had reached the end of their life.
The 18 vehicles are the first deliveries of a large order of 50, of which four will be sold in the Caribbean.
Another 18 will be delivered next year. The order includes two types of telehandlers, dedicated to hazardous material transport and air mobility brigades.
Maritime specimens
The naval vessels Zr.Ms. Karel Doorman, Zr.Ms. Rotterdam and Zr.Ms. Johan de Witt have had their own telehandler since April.
These samples meet specific maritime requirements. They are used to work on these ships.
