Tazabek – The Ministry of Organic Agriculture, together with the State Administration of the Arabka Region and the Institute of Geology, held an event in the Kyrgyz Republic on modern methods of restoration of degraded lands and production of environmental fertilizers using vermicompost and agricultural mineral reserves. This information was reported by the Ministry of Agriculture.

It is well known that farmland in Kyrgyzstan has been increasingly degraded in recent decades. Overuse of land is becoming the main cause of soil degradation, the consequences of which pose a direct threat to national food security. Mining also plays a major role in land degradation.

According to the Institute of Geology, a group of minerals called agro-ores can be used to maintain the fertility of Kyrgyzstan’s soil.

Whether used alone or in combination with vermicompost, methane wastewater, and processed food waste, animal waste (wool, etc.), agricultural minerals can restore soil quality, cleanse the land of heavy metals, radionuclides and pesticides, increase yields and even improve the performance of livestock production.

The dialogue platform was a scientific and practical meeting that reported on the prospects for the use of soil conditioners such as agro-ore and vermicompost, presented scientific research results, and held discussions on the promotion of these important results in the field of solving environmental problems and developing the country’s green economy.

Representatives of relevant ministries of the Kyrgyz Republic, the National Academy of Sciences, international donors and public organizations, as well as the media were invited to attend the meeting.

Scientists from the Republic of Uzbekistan, which also has positive experience in the use of agricultural minerals, are also planned to participate.
