Milanovic-Mikoski meeting: EU has no sincerity and honesty towards Macedonia

According to a report from President Milanovic’s Cabinet, it was confirmed at the meeting that Croatia will continue to be a staunch supporter of Macedonia on the path to EU accession and will advocate for its accession.

Earlier, Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic also sent the same message. At a press conference after meeting with Prime Minister Mikoski, the Croatian Prime Minister said that Macedonia has suffered a lot of injustice in the past 20 years, and now it is time to respect all of this.

“We believe that the burden on North Macedonia’s European path is unfair to the Macedonian people and Macedonian identity. I think that the Macedonian side has made so many concessions that almost no country and state would accept such many steps to speed up its accession to the European Union,” Plenkovic said, adding that the negotiations should work together to push North Macedonia to join the EU as soon as possible.

Prime Minister Mikolski said that the injustice we have suffered in the past twenty and a half years has been enormous, and we have made unprecedented concessions on the road to joining the European Union, starting with temporary references to the country’s name, to changing the flag and banknotes, to changing the country’s name under the Prespa Agreement.

“We have a lot of internal issues and we will solve them, there shouldn’t be any dilemmas here, we will work as needed. The fact is, it’s not up to us, that’s where the negotiations start. Unfortunately, it’s up to others as well. We have done enough, now we need someone to open the door for us so that we can get into that room and start negotiating and show how much we can do,” Mikowski said.

He told a press conference that despite the great desire of Macedonian citizens to join the EU family, we are still in a vortex with no definite end.
