Former court-appointed guard says Mike Lynch ‘became more like family’
An armed court-appointed guard tasked with ensuring Mike Lynch does not abscond as he faces fraud charges has paid tribute to the tech tycoon, saying the security team “became more like a family than a chore”.
Rollo Igno also described the “memory of a beautiful soul” in Mr. Lynch’s daughter, Hannah.
Igno said he had the privilege of being with Lynch “almost every moment” of his detention in San Francisco, an experience he called different than any he’s ever worked on and a “life-changing” one.
“As an executive protection officer, the first rule is simply, never approach the person in charge,” he said.
“They’re not your friends, they’re your clients, and our relationship is strictly professional. But for Mike, he didn’t see it that way, and for me, that rule went out the window very quickly.”

ICYMI: Prosecutors call Bayes incident a ‘very serious tragedy’
A senior Sicilian prosecutor has outlined the sequence for recovering the bodies of six people missing following a yacht sinking, describing the incident as a “very serious tragedy”.
Prosecutor Ambrogio Cartosio said: “The six people who desperately tried to save themselves were eventually rescued.
“First, it was the four of them. Jonathan Bloomer, a banker, Christopher Moviello, a lawyer, all four of them were pulled out of the yacht which was 50 metres under the water.
“Later, two others were also rescued.
“Michael Lynch went missing yesterday the 23rd and then Michael Lynch’s 18-year-old daughter Hannah was found yesterday morning.
“This is a very serious tragedy and in order to mitigate the scale of it we requested the cooperation of our firefighters and fire divers who have shown incredible courage and skill in a very difficult task to enable us to conduct a proper body examination of the wreck.”
