Members of Congress mark liberation at four churches on Fox Hill Day

Politicians sing with the FOX HILL CHOIRS on FOX HILL DAY!

Nassau, Bahamas – The Honourable Fred Mitchell, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Member of the Parliament for Fox Hill, the Honourable Shaneden Cartwright, Deputy Leader of the Opposition, fellow MPs, the Honourable Rachel Adderley, President of the Senate, Ambassadors, other senior government officials and stakeholders visited four churches in Fox Hill for the annual Fox Hill Day celebrations in commemoration of Emancipation Day on August 13, 2024. The delegation visited St. Paul Baptist Church, Macedonia Baptist Church, Mount Kerry United Baptist Church and St. Mark’s Native Baptist Church.

Those in attendance included: Jamahl Strachan, Parliamentary Secretary at the Department of Foreign Affairs, Bacchus Rolle, Parliamentary Secretary at the Department of Labour and Family Island Affairs, His Excellency Joseph Curry, Ambassador to the Vatican, and Rubyann Cooper-Darling, Deputy to the Governor and the first woman registered to vote.

In addition to greetings and gifts, the nonpartisan delegation gave a special rendition of the gospel song, “I Am Free” – with Mrs. Cooper Darling conducting.
