Westfjords musician Murgisson is currently on a crazy marathon concert tour around the country, performing his music in local churches. On this tour he will be playing concerts in 100 churches in 100 postcodes, but he has already played in 52 postcodes. Now he has come to the North West, and tonight on the 20th he is giving a big performance at Hvammstanga Church.

“For a long time I’ve been fascinated by all these churches, they are everywhere – in the countryside, in towns and in every community – there are churches everywhere – so beautiful and mysterious and cozy and exciting,” Murgisson continues, “I love playing in churches, there are some delightful extremes there – like some songs become more fragile and beautiful while others are exaggerated in the other direction and become rough and abrasive. I’ve custom built the stage, lighting and sound equipment for this event. I’ll be alone with some guitars, nikka, drums and the future church organ.”

The concert lasts about an hour. Get your tickets at Tix.is On ISK 4,500 but costs ISK. 5,000 upon entry.

As mentioned before, Mugison starts tonight (August 13) at Hvammstanga Church in the northwest, on Wednesday August 14 he will play at Blönduó Church, on August 15 he will play at Hólane Church in Skagaströnd, on Friday August 16 at Sauðárkrók Church and finally on Saturday evening at Hofsø Church. All concerts start at 20:00.
