McDonald’s has confirmed that it will be launching a new $5 meal promotion at restaurants nationwide later this year.
The $5 meal promotion will only last about a month, according to CBS News. The news network reported that the menu will roll out on June 25, citing a source familiar with the promotion.
According to CBS, customers will be able to choose from the following menu items:
- McFlurry Chicken
- One Microphone Duo
- Four chicken nuggets
Each order comes with fries and a drink, CBS reported.
“We know what it means to our customers when McDonald’s offers significant value and communicates that value through national advertising. It’s been this way since our early days, and it’s never been more important than it is now,” McDonald’s USA told the chain.
Bloomberg was the first to report the fast-food giant’s plans to launch the $5 promotion, which first needed approval from franchise owners, which the company received this week, according to CBS.
“Great value and affordability have always been hallmarks of the McDonald’s brand, and all three pillars will come together to deliver on that promise at a time when customers really need it,” McDonald’s franchise owner John Palmaccio said, according to CBS.
In an April 30 earnings call, McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski said the company needs to be “intensely focused” to keep prices affordable for customers.
In addition to this new promotion, McDonald’s plans to launch other special offers and revamp its menu to attract more customers. These improvements include new flavors for its popular McFlurrys and a wider variety of vegetarian options.
