Mariah Carey and Patricia Carey
The singer announced the sad story of his mother and brother, who died on the same day, through a message he released on Monday evening.
“My heart is broken because I lost my mother over the weekend. And, to make matters worse, my brother also lost his life that day,” he said.
Mariah Carey said they spent a week before her mother’s death asking people to respect her privacy and to be with her through the difficult time she was going through.
The 55-year-old asked people to respect her privacy after some immediately began to get back at her relationship with her family, particularly her mother and her 63-year-old sister Alison, who she now writes in her book, she says was marginalized by his brother Morgan Carey.
In her 2020 book, The Meaning of Mariah Carey, the singer also returned to her difficult relationship with her mother. Carey said jealousy over her career damaged their relationship, especially when it came from people close to her. He revealed that he did not have a good relationship with his mother.
However, in the book, aside from the bad relationship, Carey also praised her mother and said she believed she had done the best she could and that she would always love her.
Patricia Carey, 87 Mariah Carey’s mother is also a former singer and vocal coach of Irish and American descent. Mariah Carey’s father, Alfred Roy Carey, died of cancer in 2002 at the age of 72.
When Mariah Carey was three years old, Alfred and Patricia divorced.
Currently, several U.S. newspapers are reporting that no detailed information is available on the causes of these deaths.
