Police are searching for a man suspected of attacking a 25-year-old woman with a broken bottle on St Julian’s beach on Wednesday morning.
Police said in a statement that they were called to reports of a woman injured on the beach near Williga Street in Dragonara, St Julian’s, at about 10am.
On arrival, officers discovered a 25-year-old Colombian woman from Sliema was on the beach with friends when they were approached by a man. A disturbance ensued.
Police said the man began swinging a broken bottle and seriously injured the Columbia woman.
Medical teams arrived at the scene and took the woman to Mater Dei Hospital for further medical assistance. Magistrate Philip Galea Farrugia appointed experts to assist in the investigation.
Police are investigating the case to get a better understanding of the dynamics of the incident.
The search for the man continues.
