The Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) State Highway Administration (SHA) has announced major lane closures for this weekend, July 26, 27, and 28. Specific closures by county are as follows:

  • I-95/I-695 Southwest Interchange – 10 bridge repairs – The following one-, two- and three-lane closures are expected to occur overnight between Sunday, July 28 and Thursday, August 1:
    • ​I-695 Inner Loop/Westbound at I-95
    • I-695 Eastbound/I-95 Outer Loop
    • Southbound I-95 to I-695
    • Ramp from I-695 IL – WB to I-95 SB
    • Ramp from I-95 SB to I-695 OL – EB
    • Ramp from I-95 NB to I-695 IL – WB

  • US 1 (Belair Road) from Ebenezer Road to Chapel Road – Major Highway Resurfacing – Single lane closures will be in place on US 1 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday through mid-summer. Learn more here.
  • MD 7 (Philadelphia Road) from MD 43 (White Horse Avenue) to Ebenezer Road. Highway Maintenance Patching – Lane closures overnight and stripping from 8 pm to 5 am, Sunday through Thursday until midsummer.
  • MD 7 from King Ave. west to Campbell Blvd. – Highway Maintenance Resurfacing – Lane closures and striping will be ongoing from 8 pm to 5 am Sunday through Thursday through late fall. Traffic Alerts Available here.
  • MD 125 (Old Courthouse Road) Bridge over the Patapsco River in Baltimore/Howard Counties – Bridge Cleaning and Painting – The bridge will be closed to all pedestrian traffic during the early fall. Motorists and cyclists should be aware of single lane closures and signage work on the bridge until late July. The travel lane will be moved to one side and the work zone will be behind the guardrail. Traffic alerts available here.
  • MD 128 (Butler Road) Bridge over CSXT Rail Line – Bridge Repair – 9am to 3pm Monday through Friday through late July with daytime lane closures and marking work as needed.
  • MD 139 (Charles Street) City/County Line to MD 134 (Bellona Avenue) – Water main replacement and road improvements. Single lane closures northbound and southbound (with auxiliary/turn lane closures at intersections as needed). Daytime hours: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, and nighttime hours: 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday, through Fall 2026.
  • MD 140 (Reisterstown Rd./Main St.) between Stocksdale Ave. and I-795 – Major Highway Pavement Repair – Single lane closures and traffic diversions weekdays 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and nighttime single lane closures Sunday to Thursday 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., if needed, until mid-July 2024.   • MD 140 (Reisterstown Road) between Pleasant Hill Road and Stocksdale Avenue – County water main replacement and state highway improvements – Daytime single lane closures and traffic diversions weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and nighttime single lane closures Sunday through Thursday from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., as needed, through Fall 2024.   • MD 542 (Loch Raven Blvd.) from Taylor Ave. south to East Joppa Road – Joint Baltimore County Department of Public Works/SHA project to replace county water lines and improve SHA roads. Single lane closures on northbound and southbound Monday through Friday during the day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., single lane closures from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., and dual lane closures (auxiliary/turn lane closures when needed at intersections). Sunday through Thursday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., through Fall 2026.
  • MD 542 (Loch Raven Blvd.) at Loch Hill Road – Drain Replacement – ​​Northbound Right Lane and Sidewalk Closed 24 Hours a Day MD 542 near the intersection with Loch Hill Road Late summer. Traffic alerts available here.

  • MD 17 (Wolfsville Rd) between Main Street and US 40 – Highway Maintenance – Road closure from 8 PM to 5 AM, detour using Church Hill Road.

  • MD 23 (Norrisville Road) between MD 136 (Huggins Road) and MD 439 (Old York Road) – Highway Maintenance Pavement Patching – Beginning Tuesday, July 30, lane closures and striping work are expected on MD 23 south of Norrisville from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday until early fall.   • MD 24 (Rocks Road) between Sharon Road to the south and Ferncliff Lane to the north – Slope repair on MD 24 along Deer Creek – 24/7 closure and diversion of the section of MD 24 along Deer Creek until late fall 2024.   • MD 165 (Federal Hill Road) from MD 23 (Norrisville/Jarrettsville Road) to Jarrettsville Volunteer Fire Department Drive – Highway Maintenance Resurfacing – Night lane closures and striping will be conducted every Sunday through Thursday from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. until summer 2024.
  • MD 543 (Riverside Pkwy./Creswell Rd.) from I-95 to Brass Mill Rd. – Highway maintenance resurfacing begins Sunday evening, July 28 – Night lane closures and striping work will occur from 8pm to 5am Sunday through Thursday, continuing into early fall 2024. Traffic alerts available here.

Howard County

  • US Route 1 (Washington Avenue) and MD Route 32 (Patuxent Expressway) Interchange – Ramp Maintenance – Ramp closure during overnight work hours (9 pm to 5 am). This project is expected to be completed in September.
  • MD 103 (Montgomery Road) between MD 104 (Waterloo Road) and MD 100 – Road Maintenance – Single lane closure and slabs beginning Sunday, July 28, 9 pm to 5 am. The project is expected to be completed in September.
  • (Note this item in the Baltimore County list) MD 125 (Old Courthouse Road) Bridge over the Patapsco River on the Baltimore County/Howard County border – Bridge Cleaning and Painting – The bridge will be closed to all pedestrian traffic during the early fall. Motorists and bicyclists should be aware that the bridge will be closed to one lane and undergoing marking work until early July. Montgomery County

  • MD 586 (Veirs Mill Road) between Newport Mill Road and MD 28 (First Street) – Resurfacing – Single lane closures and lane changes Sunday through Thursday from 9 pm to 5 am Traffic alerts available here.

  • I-95 (Southbound Only) from MD 214 (Central Avenue) to MD 4 (Pennsylvania Avenue) – Highway Resurfacing – Nightly (Sunday-Thursday, 8pm-5am) two-lane and three-lane closures until summer 2024. Traffic Alerts Available here.
  • I-95 at MD 295 (Baltimore Washington Boulevard) – Ramp Resurfacing – Ramp closure will result in nighttime detours, Sunday through Thursday, 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., until summer 2024. Traffic Alerts Available here.

  • MD 5 between Camp Brown Road and MD 235 – Road Resurfacing – Day marking operations will be conducted weekdays through mid-August from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Washington County
