In the first round of the Bundesliga, Mainz’s new midfielder Kaishu Sano (23) started in the home game against Union Berlin, making his league debut. He played as a volunteer until the 40th minute of the second half when the game was tied at 1-1, and the team equalized the score.

On the 16th, Sano played the entire match, including extra time, in the 3-1 win over Wiesbaden (third division) in the first round of the German Cup. This was his second consecutive start in an official match. He showed aggressiveness, launched an attack in the 10th minute of the first half, and took the first shot for the team.

Sano, who has experience with the Japanese national team, announced his transfer from J1 Kashima on July 3. He was subsequently arrested in Japan on charges of involuntary sexual intercourse, but was released on the 29th of the same year and joined the team.
