New Delhi (India), June 20 (ANI): The Cabinet on Wednesday approved the minimum support price (MSP) for 14 Kharif crops, with Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Kumar Yadav terming it as an example of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s actions being consistent with his words.
“Today the cabinet approved the minimum support price for at least 14 years of kharif crops. We never thought that the new minimum support price for rice would be Rs 23 per quintal. This is an example of Prime Minister Modi walking the talk,” the Chief Minister told ANI on Wednesday.
“The new minimum support price for cotton is Rs 7,121 per quintal, which is Rs 501 higher than the previous round of minimum support price,” he added.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved increasing the minimum support price (MSP) of all statutory summer crops for the 2024-25 marketing season.
The minimum support price for 14 Kharif season crops, including paddy, ragi, millet, sorghum, maize and cotton, will have a financial impact of Rs 200 crore for the government and farmers will get a benefit of Rs 35,000 crore compared to the previous season.
The Indian government has increased the minimum support price (MSP) for kharif crops for the 2024-25 marketing season to ensure that growers get a remunerative price for their produce. According to a release by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, the highest absolute increase in the MSP for oilseeds and pulses compared to the previous year was recorded for black seed (Rs 983 per quintal), followed by sesame (Rs 632 per quintal) and turk dal (Rs 550 per quintal).
