The meeting will take place after celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the landing of American soldiers in Normandy.

French President Emmanuel Macron will receive his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky in Paris on Friday. They will discuss the needs of the Ukrainian army in the face of an ongoing Russian aggression. The Elysee Palace announced this on Tuesday, TASR wrote, citing AFP.

“The two presidents will discuss the situation on the battlefield in light of the intensification of Russian attacks on energy infrastructure and on the front lines,” the Elysee Palace said. The meeting will take place after celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the Normandy Landings by American soldiers.

Zelensky will also address the French National Assembly and meet with Yael Braun-Pivet, the speaker of the French parliament’s lower house, who visited Ukraine in March.

Macron announced steps to provide more military support to Kiev after France organized a conference in support of Ukraine in late February, while the French president said for the first time that he would not rule out sending European soldiers to Ukraine, raising concerns among Western allies.
