Macaulay Culkin is changing the way Father’s Day is celebrated.
in a Emotional Instagram PostsIn a post on his Facebook page, Culkin talked about how Father’s Day has changed since he became a dad.
Culkin, who has a estranged relationship with his own father Kit, admitted that now that he is a father of two, he no longer dreads Father’s Day.
“If you know anything about me, you know I’ve had a complicated relationship with Father’s Day in the past,” Culkin told his fans.
“But since becoming a dad myself, I decided to reinvent the wheel,” he continued, revealing that now his Father’s Day is all about the kids who gave him the title.
“Besides getting an extra hour or two of sleep, I try to make it a day for the kids, not for me. After all, they are the ones who made me a dad (no offense Brenda).”
Culkin admitted that in his family, Father’s Day ranks low on the list of holidays celebrated. “In our family, Father’s Day isn’t revered like birthdays or Christmas, but it does get more respect than holidays like St. Patrick’s Day, Valentine’s Day and the Fourth of July.”
Still, Culkin said he is now determined to “do something fun for the kids on Father’s Day. It’s a special day.”
“This is all to thank Lucasfilm for sending me a care package filled with goodies for my kids to enjoy (except the hot sauce),” Culkin continued.
“Father’s Day isn’t about me, it’s about those who make me feel like a father.”
Fans praised Culkin for “breaking the cycle.”

“I love hearing your thoughts. Thank you for posting your ideas,” another commenter wrote. “I lost my dad this year and it is heartbreaking. I dread Father’s Day. I think this will help change my perspective.”

Culkin and his wife, actress Brenda Songare the parents of two boys born in 2021 and 2022.
Macaulay and his brother, fellow actor Kieran, have both described their father as a “bad man” and “not a good person” in previous interviews.
Kieran talked about how their mum raised seven children alone in a “studio apartment”. He told Page Six“There was a guy there — but he didn’t do anything.”
