LUMA Energy announced through its social networks that there may be power outages across the island this evening (Saturday).
According to the company responsible for managing the distribution and transmission of energy in Puerto Rico, the blackouts will be caused by problems with generator sets and high consumer demand.
“Due to a generator issue and high demand for electricity, customers may experience temporary service disruptions tonight. While LUMA is not responsible for generating electricity, we encourage customers to conserve energy whenever possible.” LUMA communicates through its X account (formerly known as Twitter).

Unit 1 of Aguirre Central Station is out of service
Unit 1 of the Salinas Aguirre Power Plant has been shut down, and thousands of customers on the island are without power.
