Review. Maisie Peters of Pukkelpop: Dreaming of Female Power***
“I’ve only got two albums out, but they’re amazing.”Aside from dreams, Maisie Peters (24) exudes confidence and feminine power.Her set at Pukkelpop was shorter than expected, but you could immediately see why the likes of Ed Sheeran are her fans.
She was talking about “Tonight” at 3 p.m. and rapping about “A Beautiful Day” while parts of the audience were taking shelter from the rain. But other than that, Maisie Peters can’t be blamed. With a very solid, fun set of pop songs – balancing dream pop, pop rock and synth-pop – she managed to convince an admittedly too-big dancehall of her abilities.
In 2021, Ed Sheeran signed her to his record label. Next Monday she opens for Taylor Swift on her Eras tour at Wembley. These are the royal letters you can take home. During “Kiewit,” she danced from one side of the stage to the other, thanking the audience, especially the big screaming fans at the front, and waving her hair alternately without and with her guitar.
