The XCOM Wireless Access Network is a multi-point wireless system that provides high capacity and flexibility, making it ideal for private wireless networks.

HARARE, Zimbabwe – Liquid Intelligent Technologies has announced a groundbreaking partnership with Globalstar, a leading US satellite communications company, to roll out cutting-edge 5G connectivity solutions across Zimbabwe, Africa, the Middle East and the Gulf region.

Globalstar is known for its low-orbit satellite constellation, which provides satellite telephony, data communications and Earth observation services. Under the terms of the new agreement, Liquid will have exclusive rights to distribute Globalstar’s XCOM RAN private network 5G access solution in these regions.

Designed to deliver high capacity and flexibility, the XCOM Radio Access Network (RAN) is ideal for private wireless networks. It promises four times the capacity and superior performance over existing systems, laying the foundation for transformative applications in industries such as mining and high-end markets.

Strive Masiyiwa, founder and chairman of Liquid Intelligent Technologies, expressed great enthusiasm for the technology’s potential. “The advancement of 5G private network technology is a game changer. We can now provide large enterprises such as mines with their own 5G networks to support services such as AI, which is a major leap forward,” said Masiyiwa.

Dr. Paul Jacobs, CEO of Globalstar, highlighted the uniqueness of its 5G XCOM RAN product. “It is fundamentally different from traditional wireless solutions and enables mission-critical, high-performance wireless applications. Our collaboration with Liquid will accelerate the deployment of advanced wireless technologies in these regions,” added Jacobs.

The partnership extends beyond XCOM RAN to include non-exclusive use of Globalstar’s satellites, Band n53 spectrum and IoT solutions. Band n53 is a mid-band spectrum that provides versatile, fully licensed channels to enhance wireless connectivity in different regions.

Hardy Pemhiwa, President and Group CEO of Cassava Technologies, expressed optimism about the prospects of this collaboration. “Globalstar’s 5G enterprise solutions will enable us to provide unparalleled connectivity, which is in line with our vision to become a leading technology company with African roots, providing reliable, high-speed internet to businesses and communities,” said Pemhiwa.

This strategic alliance not only marks an important step in Liquid’s commitment to strengthening digital infrastructure, but also aligns with Globalstar’s vision to expand the impact of technology in high-value environments. The partnership aims to promote innovation and progress through enhanced connectivity to meet the growing needs of businesses and individuals in Africa and beyond.
