Libreville, Saturday, August 24, 2024 (Infos Gabon) – Liberation Day, celebrated on August 30, marks the coming to power of the Commission for the Transition and Restoration of Institutions (CTRI).
A year after the military took power, Gabon is preparing to celebrate Liberation Day. “The first National Liberation Day, established every year on 30 August, will indeed take place in Libreville,” the President of the Republic said in a press release, interrupting speculation about the announcement of the event to the country.
But it is worth noting that this event involving nine provinces across the country will be held in rotation in the next few years.
After the cancellation of the general election due to fraud and single-vote competition, CTRI has been in power in Gabon since August 30, 2023, and has entered a critical stage of national transformation and fulfilled its strategic mission.
The missions set by General Brice Clotaire Origi Nguema and his troops are intended to lay the foundations for a modern, resilient nation in line with the aspirations of its citizens. They reflect a firm desire to lead the country towards an era of progress characterized by stability, prosperity and integrity, all based on eight (8) pillars.
These include rebuilding the country, maintaining territorial integrity and security, organizing free and transparent elections, developing a new constitution, a culture of good governance and responsible citizenship, promoting human rights and public freedoms, strengthening judicial independence, and committing to major reforms.
August 30 will therefore be an opportunity for the new authorities to take stock of the progress and achievements made, as well as the difficulties faced.
