Libreville, Sunday, September 1, 2024 (Gabon News) – The 2×3 lane and 2×2 lane roads, inaugurated on August 29 by General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, will help ease traffic congestion in the northern area of Libreville.

Urban mobility is now guaranteed on the Libreville-Akanda axis through Alibandon and Okara. Motorists and other users can now travel unimpeded on safe lanes without having to worry about any danger as before.

The President of the Transitional Government, General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, inaugurated the airport bypass road at a ceremony in the presence of members of the Transitional Government and CTRI, and for good reason.

This opening therefore puts an end to the suffering of residents and road users who faced traffic jams when travelling to the north of Libreville.

This section will allow for smoother traffic flows and significantly reduce travel times between the commune of Akonda and other parts of Greater Libreville.

The 5.7km long road is the result of a partnership between Arise, GSEZ Airport and the Gabonese government, and was built with high quality and sustainability by AFCONS. To carry out the work, workers facing the swamp destroyed 2 hectares of mangroves.

Even before the construction work started, modern houses were built on another site with land title for the benefit of those affected by the project, and their completion caused joy among local residents and the community at large, who even expressed their desire to see other similar projects realized to improve living conditions in Greater Libreville.
