New Delhi (India), August 20 (ANI): Liberian Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Kong arrived in Delhi on Monday to attend the 19th Confederation of Indian Industry India-Africa Business Meet.
Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the Liberian Vice President’s visit to India will further strengthen bilateral ties.
“Warmly welcome Liberian Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung to New Delhi for the 19th CII India-Africa Business Conference. This is an opportunity to further strengthen the India-Liberia partnership,” Jaiswal said on X. It is worth noting that the relationship between India and Liberia has always been warm and friendly. Liberia has supported India’s candidacy at various UN forums. According to the Indian Embassy in Liberia, the Indian government opened a permanent mission in Monrovia, the capital of Liberia, in May 2021.
The 19th CII India-Africa Business Conference will be held in New Delhi from August 20 to 22. It is noteworthy that the 19th CII India-Africa Business Conference aims to be a tool for promoting African development and the role of India-Africa partnership in regional and global value chain integration.
India remains the fastest growing large economy, thanks to favourable demographics (stable labour supply), growing institutional strength and improved governance.
According to the Indian Ministry of Finance’s January 2024 economic assessment, despite the impact of the pandemic and macroeconomic imbalances and financial sector problems inherited from previous years, India is currently the fifth largest economy with a GDP expected to be US$ 3.7 trillion in FY24.
Earlier in June this year, Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar had said Africa was undergoing rapid changes and it was transforming from the cradle of human civilization to the land of the future, adding that India viewed Africa as a “natural partner” with mutual trust and respect.
In a speech at Africa Day celebrations in the Indian capital, Jaishankar noted that India’s ties with Africa “run deep” and stressed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has redefined India’s engagement in Africa.
“As we all know, Africa is undergoing very rapid changes today. These changes cover all aspects of the continent from the cradle of human civilization to the land of the future. This is a continent with the youngest population, rich natural resources, expanding capabilities, growing markets and most importantly, rising ambitions,” said Jaishankar.
“India, the world’s most populous country and currently the world’s fifth largest economy, sees Africa as a natural partner. India is currently focused on adding value in Africa, including production, research, localization and local employment, based on trust and mutual respect,” he added. (ANI)
