On September 1 Renard Kauper celebrates his 50th birthday. A man who does not ask for opinions. Children and old men alike know him, and everyone has a favorite song he performs. While Renard is associated with most people as the soloist in “The Wise Men”, in fact in his 50 years he has done as much as two lifetimes combined. I don’t think Renard himself feels fifty years old, as he is both visually well preserved and mentally young all the time. This will not be a biographical article with dry facts (well, some are worth it), but more of a personal retelling of Renard.

Did she know Renard Cowper? Reading this, someone might wonder. Yes and no. The first time I saw Renard on stage was at a concert, my godmother took me along. I remember – a woman danced next to me, she was completely immersed in the music, not thinking about how it looked from the outside. I thought – what a very strange woman, she danced so crazily. A few years passed, and I myself became such a girl, she went to all the intellectual tours, bought every magazine, in which there was even a paragraph about the band or Renard, etc. Now it all seems funny, but I grew up with this group, and the fact is that Renard was very good in many situations in life, and he was unaware of it. So I know a lot about Renard, so I write these words for his anniversary. By the way, earlier on his birthday, I sent text messages to congratulate Renard, and he always (!) replied to them. He has always been such a human being (now I dare not look at what I wrote to him before).
